Description
Designed by Danish architect and designer Anne Boysen, Moonsetter is an extraordinary floor lamp that blurs the boundary between functional lighting and contemporary sculpture. Winner of the Next Danish Design Classic television competition in 2020, the lamp was immediately praised for its pure geometry, clean lines and timeless character. Its design brings together the circle, square and cylinder in a striking and poetic composition.
At the heart of Moonsetter is a large 360° rotating aluminium disc, finished in white on one side and mirror-polished on the other. By turning the disc, the user can decide how the hidden LED light source is reflected into the room. With the white side facing the light, Moonsetter produces a soft, diffused and glare-free glow; with the chrome side facing forward, the disc reflects the light directly, creating a much more dramatic and graphic expression. The surrounding space is also mirrored in the polished surfaces of the frame and disc, making the lamp an active, interactive presence in the room.
Moonsetter stands 600 mm high with a footprint of 300 × 640 mm and a substantial weight of 45.2 kg, giving it a powerful architectural presence that naturally draws the eye and creates a “room within a room” through light and reflection. The lamp is continuously dimmable and is operated via a rotary foot switch integrated into the cylindrical base.
Produced in numbered editions of 100 pieces per edition, each Moonsetter lamp is engraved with both the edition number and its unique serial number, reinforcing its status as a true collector’s design object.
