Description
Launched in 2015, the Patera pendant lamp by Øivind Slaatto represents a modern reinterpretation of the traditional chandelier, conceived to bring a luminous focal point and a dynamic, comfortable light into contemporary interiors. Its sophisticated design delivers uniform, glare-free illumination in all directions, creating a pleasant and natural lighting atmosphere.
Patera’s intricate structure is composed of carefully arranged cells positioned at varying angles, allowing light to be diffused evenly while avoiding glare from any viewpoint. Inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, the lamp’s spherical form appears different from every angle, making it visually engaging and sculptural even when switched off. As Øivind Slaatto describes it, Patera was conceived as a “three-dimensional Sudoku”, combining mathematical precision with poetic expression.
The shade is made from satin-finished, laser-cut PVC sheets, suspended by a structure in satin chrome-plated aluminium and die-cast acrylic. Finished in matte white, Patera blends seamlessly into both modern and classic interiors open to contemporary reinterpretations.
Available in four different diameters (Ø300, Ø450, Ø600 and Ø900), Patera can be used as a single statement piece or arranged in multiple compositions—aligned or staggered—to create a striking visual effect reminiscent of a star-filled sky.
