Designed by Gabriel Tan for Louis Poulsen, the Rumee 220 is a portable lamp that combines poetic design, functionality and emotional warmth. The name “Rumee” is a playful blend of meanings drawn from both Danish and English: it merges the Danish word rum (space or room) with the English word me, while also echoing the sound of “roomie”, an informal term for a housemate. This bilingual wordplay evokes a sense of companionship, warmth and comfort.
Thanks to its portable nature, Rumee 220 allows you to bring the feeling of home into any space. It is designed to accompany everyday moments of closeness and joy, whether reading to a child, sharing a game with friends, or enjoying a relaxed moment while travelling. Wherever it is placed, Rumee becomes a reassuring presence that enhances the experience of the space.
The design is inspired by the soft, flowing curves of a wide-brimmed hat, resulting in a sculptural form that references elements of the natural world. Rumee 220 is engineered to provide high-quality, precise task lighting at close range, while simultaneously emitting a soft 360-degree ambient glow.
